This Blog is intended for all USNCO participants in both the Local Maryland Chemistry Competition and the U.S. National Chemistry Olympiad. The local exam is requisite for the Olympiad. Also all participants must send an accurate registration form and a letter of recommendation from his/her chemistry teacher. When all information is been received and approved by the USNCO Coordinator, the teacher will receive the local exams , answer key and nomination letter for his/her qualified students... If the applicant is returning from last year, a letter of recommendation is not needed. However, if more than a year has past after the last competition, the participant must comply with all three USNCO requirements from the Maryland Section (see website menu "HOME"). It is expected that good students like you will use this blog to best prepare for the exam. Before the exam work as a team to do the best in the competition. Best of luck to all!

All NEW participants need a letter of recommendation
- if you are returning to the competition and did not have a letter of recommendation on file from last year, you need one!
- the letter of recommendation should be from a teacher (chemistry teacher preferably). It should place emphasis on academic performance, and students commitment to attend the exam if he/she qualifies and is nominated to the US National Chemistry Olympiad, USNCO.
- if a teacher has more than five participating students, the letter of recommendation could wait until his/her students are nominated
- Is students changes school or changes chemistry teacher (sponsor) he/she needs a letter of recommendation.
